It's really weird, but the English part would be harder for me to pass than the arithmetic part. For example, how do you answer the first number V?

You mean question number 5? I guess one should interpret "part" as "fraction". So August is 31 days long, 31x24x60 minutes long. One has to divide 7/18 by the result of the previous step. And, by the way, I wonder how many modern-day students can answer those questions 1869 style, i.e. without a calculator? :) V.

I meant #1 in the English part was hard for me.
And I could do the arithmetic part without a calculator easily.
