This is all well and good, except for the fact that I haven't submitted anything to this journal.
This is also a very cruel thing to do to a person who is awaiting decision on two articles she has actually submitted to other journals and who almost faints every time she sees an email with the subject line "Article submission."

I will get in contact with the journal that sent you the email to make sure nothing weird is going on.
Very strange. Is someone else submitting articles in your name? That sort of happened to a colleague of mine back in the early 1970's, and I have heard stories of it happening other times.
I heard from many people that this journal was poorly organized and generally weird. Now I see the proof of that for myself.
The friend of mine I mentioned had this happen to him because another author's name differed from his only in the middle initial, and the confusion was the result of a typo.
I don't have a middle initial. But you know my last name. It's even rare for my own country. What are the chances there is another Hispanist in this country with the same last name? :-)
Although I wouldn't mind people publishing stuff for me. :-) :-)
The big problem with people publishing stuff for you is that you might be stuck with defending some utter nonsense.
Split personality! Your other you sent an article for publication on the multiple layers of meanings in the works of X.
I often think that I may have a split personality. I always have the impression that I remember everything, hence I am scared that this means that I actually forget too many things.

Don't do this to me, my friend. I'm paranoid as it is, and the idea that I might be sending out articles and forgetting all about it is scary.
I knew you would react this way! Don't be a paranoical control freak like I am:)
