When I first moved to the US, one of the first things I did was go to a bank to open a bank account. In order to get a free student account, I gave a bank teller a letter from my university confirming that I had been accepted into its doctoral program.
"So what kind of a doctor are you going to be?" the teller asked me.
"I will be a Doctor of Philosophy," I responded.
"Philosophy isn't a person. It doesn't need doctors," the teller scoffed.
