Civilization is making small inroads into the area where I live. Yesterday I discovered that our grocery store now sells farm-raised frozen rabbits. Rabbit is the first thing I ever learned how to cook and over the years I have honed my rabbit cooking skills to achieve amazing results. In the Midwest, though, people are terrified when I mention that rabbits can be used as food. People around here are decidedly unadventurous in terms of food. I asked my students, and they unanimously agreed that chicken is the best meat ever. Which is kind of sad.
So, of course, I bought the rabbit and I will share my rabbit recipe with my readers over the weekend.

Chicken does not agree with my stomach, for some reason. I have not eaten rabbit since I waas a child. We raised rabbits for food for a few years.
Chicken is boring as it is but the way they cook it in the South kills it completely. All this deep-frying and heavy batter, horrible!
That will please a Bosnian-Canadian I know. He adores rabbit, and is hell-bent on convincing everyone to try it. He's picky though, insists on fresh, not frozen.
Fresh would be better, of course, but beggars cannot be choosers, you know. :-)
I have never eaten rabbit before. It will have to contest with my friend's venison stew. And venison is much better than chicken, so I have found.
Very few foods are better than good venison, in my experience. Saying venison is better than chicken is such an understatement as to make me giggle increduloulsy. Much like saying that Everest is higher than a molehill.
I love venison. When I cook it, though, it comes out terrible. Tough, dry, chewy - just nasty. So there will be no venison recipes here for a while at least. :-)
