One of my favorite feminist blogs just posted the following discussion thread:

It truly shocks me to see that what passes for the feminist line of thought in this society is an attempt to defend "women's right to not have an orgasm." Actually, the patriarchal society has always preferred anorgasmic women for the simple reason that a woman incapable of experiencing sexual pleasure will never "betray" her lord and master simply because she finds another man more sexually attractive.
This is one of the reasons why the feminist movement has become so discredited.

I guess faking orgasms is not so much a political issue, it is more of a psychological issue in my opinion - people not being able to be honest with their intimate partners.
Need for various rationalizations - like "right not to have orgasm", or "being afraid of hurting fragile male ego", or "not willing to explain the man at 12 PM that you are not coming" etc, which may sound feminist or traditionalist or whatever, are, in my opinion, just consequences of this psychological issue.
And I am pretty sure men have their version of that issue too. Of course it does not manifest in faking orgasms... But it can, for example, manifest in inhibition about offering something sexually new to respected long-term partner, and then being upset with boring repetitive sex life (and the partner)...

Oh, I agree with you completely! The need to turn this into a political issue hides a deep-seated need to avoid solving the problem. People are even prepared to defend this lunacy politically. How insane is that?
If you agree with me, then what did you mean by the sentence about patriarchal society? :):) The latter sounds political to me...

And the patriarchal society has always preferred orgasmic men, which is why some men fake orgasm too!
Only very inexperienced and insensitive men and women will be fooled by fakers. Or ones that are profoundly indifferent to their partners.
