My mother: So what is your boyfriend doing right now?
Me: He's doing the dishes.
My mother: This is so wrong! You should do that instead of him. What did he get his PhD for? To do the dishes?
Me: But, Mom, I also have a PhD.
(A long pause).

I'm so sorry, Clarissa. This must be very tough for you.
I am sorry too. Do not even know what to say...

Thank you or support, guys! But I didn't mean it as a sad story. I just think it's very funny. :-)
I guess it could be seen as funny. In a really scary sort of way.
I told this story to my daughter the other day...
Her best friend is not treated the same way as her (friend's) brother by their parents...

My mother always feels very sorry for all of my boyfriends because these "poor boys" are stuck with me. :-)
I laughed! My mom is in her 50s and pissed off at most men (especially her husband), so she'd "hurrah" you allllllll day for that one!
Thank you, LaShawn! :-)
You have to love Mafalda!
Sorry about your mother's comments
Mafalda is my best friend's nickname because they have a lot in common. :-)
