Today, my trademark course in Hispanic Civilization was observed by our Assistant Dean. I invited him myself, so it wasn't any kind of a painful moment of being evaluated by the administration against my wishes. (As far as I know, it isn't even practised at our university.) It was so lovely to see, however, how hard the students tried not to let me down. Many of the questions I asked were answered in unison by almost every student in this class of 35. I didn't want to make a false impression on the Assistant Dean, so I asked some pretty tough questions. And the students did me proud every single time.
It's always nice to see such instances of student solidarity with the teacher.
