Mochica Ceramics

The great Mochica culture existed on the Northern coast of Peru between I-VI centuries. They are especially famous for their knowledge of hydraulic engineering and their amazing mastery of the art of ceramics.

Thanks for mentioning this post in your comment today! These are nice. I bought some somewhat similar pieces in Oaxaca Mexico once in the 1990's, but have not been able to find any since. (I think the ones I bought were Mayan, but I am not sure; The woman who sold them to me was not sure, either.)

I am sure that the pieces I bought were copies, of course, not rare antiques.
