If You Think Reality TV Serves No Useful Purpose...
. . . then you are completely wrong. I'm watching Project Runway right now, and the designer who I think will win, Mondo Guerra, is HIV-positive. And nobody has any problem with that. Everybody respects him for being insanely talented, but otherwise he is treated as if he had diabetes or high blood pressure. I think it's great that this reality TV show demonstrates such a normal, healthy attitude towards HIV-positive people. There is still so much ignorant prejudice about HIV/AIDS and not nearly enough hysteria-free, nonjudgmental representations of HIV-positive people.
