Thank you, KT, for sending this to me!
P.S. And the prize goes to Jonathan who guessed on the first try. It's a cell-phone! The following article suggests it's creepy but I kind of like the way it looks:
This terrifying creature is the Elfoid, or Erufoido, a creepy, blob-shaped cellphone which I would never even touch, much less hold up close to my ear.
Astonishingly, the Elfoid is meant to make people less scared of their phones, not more. It simplifies complex technology by using hidden buttons and voice-recognition to control it, but that’s just the beginning of the weirdness.
The Elfoid will somehow communicate the “presence” of the person on the line using sound and cameras, and the doughy urethane cover mimics the feel of human skin. This will, researchers at Osaka University hope, make people feel closer to each other.

It could be a corkscrew or can-opener viewed from behind, or some kind of electric massager, or an ultra-hip cellphone. Whatever it is, I think I want it.
That's a keen academic mind at work! :-) :-) You guessed, it's a cell phone. I added details to the post.
Do you know why I sent it to you? It was because the way the writer expressed his/her discomfort with the device and the way it looked reminded me of Clarissa's blog :)
The good thing is that you, on the other hand, like the device. So all is well :).
It was lucky stab in the dark. I really thought it was a corkscrew.
OK, I don't get what you are saying. I just submitted an article for publication, so I'm a little distracted. Did the article remind you of me because people often feel uncomfortable with my blog? Or because of something else?
Or are you saying the gadget looks like me??
No, the writer sounded uncomfortable about the product, and didn't mince words to say so. It was the way s/he said so that reminded me of the way you write. I saw words like "terrifying", "creepy", etc. I mean, the laughter I got out of reading it reminded me of the ones I get from reading you write about some other things too.
This is not a complaint, by the way.
Off topic: I love the word verification because it makes up new words. My word verification now says "hurien". Wonder what that could mean.
Oh, I get it now!
Off-topic: did you hear that yet another tornado is coming our way? Stay safe!
