Flattr and StumbleUpon

This blog now has its own Flattr and StumbleUpon buttons. You can see them in the right hand column. They are brand-new and shiny.
Bloggers of the world, unite and support each other!

P.S. Not nearly enough people are using Flattr. It sounds like a great way I could support bloggers I like if only they used it. I hope people start waking up to Flattr soon because I believe there is a real future to this thing.

I am so glad you started using Flattr! I've been trying to convince more people to use it for awhile now, but my blog doesn't have nearly the reach yours does.

I see what Flattr is about. I will join as soon as I finish with my midterms. What is Stumbleupon about? Is it the same?

I don't have a clue what either of them does.

StumbleUpon is a rating system that allows people to discover sites based on their preferences: http://www.stumbleupon.com/aboutus/

Flattr is a service that allows bloggers to support blogs they like with token gifts. For example, I travel through sites and find one I really like. So I press the Flattr button and at the end of the month the blog's author will get a small gift from me. And from all other people who liked the blog.

I believe that the whole future of book publishing lies in this direction too. Publishing houses need to go. people will self-publish and reward each other in a way similar to Flattr.

I've been trying to install Flattr, but I don't know how to put the button in my blog. And I see that you do not have the button in your blog. Any suggestions?

I do have the button. Can't you see it??

Now I can. But I still don't know how to install it in my blog. I already signed up and funded an account at Flattr. I'll try later.

They give you a code that you need to install in the HTML code of your blog. You need to go to Design, then Edit HTML and insert the code into the "Header" part. Make sure you save the code before changing anything because you don't want to mess it up to the point where you don't know how to recover it.

Then, you need to go to the 'Add gadget' portion of the design menu. Choose "Add HTML code" and copy-paste the relevant code from the Flattr site into the window.

Read one of your posts that I wanted to Flattr earlier. Didn't find the button though... See now that it's gone and hidden far far down in right panel.

Hard for new users to start using it when they don't even notice it on your page...
